Arkansas
ELIGIBILITY:
Spouse, children, or any child legally adopted or in legal
custody of a person who entered service in the U.S. Armed Forces as a resident from the
State of Arkansas and became a POW/MIA or was Killed in Action as established by the
Secretary of Defense after 1/1/60. Return or reported death will not alter provisions or
benefits.
BENEFITS:
Free tuition, fees, and room and board as an accepted
student enrolled to obtain a bachelors degree or certificate of completion in any
Arkansas state institution, state-supported technical or vocational school.

Louisiana
ELIGIBILITY:
Children (age 16-25) and surviving spouses of service
members who died in service in line of duty or died as a result of disability incurred in
war-time service in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, or Persian Gulf War. Also, children (age
16-25) and spouses of service members listed as POW or MIA and were LA residents for at
least one year immediately prior to the veterans entry into service; and children of
veterans rated 100% service-connected by evaluation of the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs Disability Rating Schedule and are LA residents for at least two years immediately
prior to the childs entry into a training institution.
BENEFITS:
Possible payment of a cash subsistence allowance if funds
are available. The student is eligible for four years of schooling to be completed in not
more than five years. Free tuition, matriculation, and other fees at any continued
state-supported college, university, trade and vocational technical schools are provided.

Oklahoma
ELIGIBILITY:
Former POW/MIA and dependents (under age 24) of POW/MIA.
POW/MIA means any person who was an OK resident at the time of entrance into the U.S.
Armed Forces or whose official residence is within the state of OK and who, while in the
U.S. Armed Forces has been declared a POW or MIA as established by he Secretary of
Defense. Dependents are not eligible for this benefit if federal funds are provided to pay
their enrollment fees.
BENEFITS:
Upon being accepted for enrollment into any state supported
institution of higher education of any type, state supported technical or vocational
school, the eligible student will receive enrollment fee waivers for five years or
completion of bachelors degree, whichever comes first.

institution where eligible student is enrolled.
Texas
Tuition Waivers for Veterans
Eligibility: Veterans honorably discharged who served at least 180 days of active duty
military service. Bonafide TX resident at time of entry into service who have only limited
educational benefits from the federal government.
Benefits: Exemption for payment of tuition and some fees at public colleges and
universities. Exemptions from charges for continuing education courses is optional on the
part of the institution.
Application: Financial aid officer of the state-supported institution of choice.
Dependent children of MIA / POWs
Eligibility: Dependent children of TX military personnel MIA or POW.
Benefits: Exemption for payment of tuition and some fees at public colleges and
universities. Exemptions from charges for continuing education courses is optional on the
part of the institution.
Application: Financial aid officer of the state-supported institution of choice.
Children of Deceased Veterans
Eligibility: Children of veterans killed or died as a result of service in WWI, WWII,
Korea or since 2/1/55.
Benefits: Exemption for payment of tuition and some fees at public colleges and
universities. Exemptions from charges for continuing education courses is optional on the
part of the institution.
Application: High school guidance counselor, or financial aid officer of the
state-supported institution of choice.
Orphans of National Guard and Texas Air National Guard
Eligibility: Exemption of certain orphans of National Guard and Texas Air National
Guard.
Benefits: Exemption for payment of tuition and some fees at public colleges and
universities. Exemptions from charges for continuing education courses is optional on the
part of the institution.
